Over the past few months, we have had the pleasure of welcoming several students to Walvoil, offering them the opportunity to undertake a curricular work placement to turn their university knowledge into practical experience. They were involved in projects and practical tasks across various areas of the company.
In October, they completed their studies, taking with them the experience gained during their work placement:
Giacomo Delle Chiaie – Customer Service, Sales Department
He was responsible for managing orders via the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, from checking and amending them through to completion, whilst also gaining in-depth knowledge of issues relating to delivery times and non-conformities. He also had the opportunity to take part in internal sales meetings and meetings with clients.

Alessandro Carrara – Walvoil Innovation Centre – R&D
He worked on the design and simulation of components using SolidWorks, Excel and Amesim, whilst also taking part in a number of test runs on the valve that was the subject of the project.

Matilde Salsi – Administration
She examined the organisational structure, the governance model, the business sectors and the internationalisation strategy, whilst also undertaking accounting management tasks, analysing the financial statements of competitors and suppliers, and assessing the impact of transport costs on sales.

Filippo Fantini – Walvoil Innovation Center
He carried out an experimental comparison of current control for the operation of proportional solenoid valves, analysing three different electronic control units.

Marco Bertolini – Electronic Design
He focused on the development of a position sensor for a hydraulic valve, carrying out competitor and patent analysis, evaluating potential technical solutions, building prototypes and assessing performance.

Mattia Ferrari – Procurement Department
He has gained in-depth insight into the role of the Procurement Department, with a particular focus on supplier management and the digitalisation of processes, utilising tools such as ERP, Business Intelligence and IUNGO, whilst supporting procurement and supply chain activities.

Experiences such as these act as an important bridge between university and the world of work: they allow students to put their skills to the test. At the same time, they provide Walvoil with a valuable opportunity to engage with young talent, ideas and fresh perspectives.
A special thank you to the company mentors who supported them, dedicating their time, experience and attention to their development.
Today, their paths are taking them in different directions: some have chosen to continue their studies with a Master’s degree, whilst others have decided to embark on their professional careers.
For Giacomo, the journey continues right here with us: after graduating, he began his career at Walvoil.
