MODULAR ISOBUS CONTROL SYSTEM FOR REAR MOUNTED MOWERS / BRUSH CUTTERS

The system has been developed by Walvoil Spa in collaboration with Hymach Srl, company engaged in the manufacture of green maintenance machinery for more than thirty years.

The basic component is the Implement ECU (IECU) that controls and monitors the mower. Optional components include the Universal Terminal (UT), the joystick, and the Tractor ECU (TECU). All components conform to the ISOBUS standard (ISO 11783).

The system offers all the functions of a modern, state-of-the-art mower while combining them with the advantages provided by an ISOBUS system.

The system can be applied to two different scenarios:

  1. With an ISOBUS Tractor
In this scenario, the control system installed on the tractor consists only of the Implement ECU.
  2. With a Non-ISOBUS Tractor
In this case, the system includes all the components: IECU, Universal Terminal (UT), joystick, and Tractor ECU (TECU).

The modularity and scalability of the system stem from the fact that all components are ISOBUS.

ALS - ADAPTIVE ELECTRO-HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FOR THE EFFICIENCY OF MOBILE MACHINES

To limit the energy dissipation of the hydraulic system, component manufacturers have developed variable displacement pumps: units that generate hydraulic power and provide the flow rate required by the machine. This development together with the displacement control system has resulted in major savings, of these systems, the most common control in the construction market is the Load Sensing circuit; a hydraulic signal provides the flow demand to the pump controller. This system is well known but has additional cost and complexity, for these reasons the mobile machinery market still requires fixed displacement pumps.

Walvoil ALS - Adaptive Load Sensing System, which will be presented at EIMA 2024 in its advanced version, addresses the need for more advanced controllers that minimize energy consumption without sacrificing operator experience. Thanks to ALS, it is possible to change the "pressure margin" of the system: the control signal for the pump or input compensator is modulated to meet different operational needs.

ALS is a synergistic set of components for the efficiency of mobile machines. The joint control of the hydraulic directional control valve and the pump makes it possible to cut down pressure drops due to the pressure margins of the metering system. In addition, a range of logics are available to improve machine control, productivity and driving comfort.

The ALS System, part of the Hydraulic Digital Solutions, enables a reduction in fuel consumption of more than 5-6%, and can be used as an integral part of the hydraulic directional control valve or inserted on the variable displacement pump.

Walvoil offers three different ALS solutions to provide extreme versatility and adapt to the performance and system requirements of the machine.

EPX CONCEPT INNOVATES BEYOND THE INDUSTRY STANDARD

Hydraulic systems have evolved to maximize the predictability of actuation speed. Flow compensation is a well-known technology that mechanically corrects the actuator's speed if it exceeds the operator's demand due to inertial load. This is achieved through a mechanical device introducing a pressure drop to limit the flow when necessary.

EPX concept, part of Walvoil's Hydraulic Digital Solutions, innovates beyond the industry standard with a three-way compensation device that not only limits actuation speed but can also recover stored gravitational and kinetic energy of the system.

EPX's approach combines two key innovations.

Meter-Out compensation
This design improves the control of unbalanced loads, proving compensation to the return flow. This innovation also simplifies the load control valves: in a meter-out system the compensator protects against load speed drifting. The secondary valves are in this case used only as safety equipment. These safety valves, typically flanged on the cylinder, are designed to have minimal pressure drop and minimal impact on main valve operation.

Three-way compensation
This patented design introduces an extra flow path to the meter-out compensator. During operation, the compensator measures the fluid pressure: if the pressure exceeds a determined threshold, an extra path is opened, pressurizing the recovery line with the stored energy in the actuator.

The combination of these two innovations provides an integrated solution with flow-sharing capability, meaning constant repartition between delivered flow rates in case of saturation, and able to recover stored energy in the machine.

EPX technologies are evolving to minimize the environmental impact and stabilize the power consumption of the next generation of hydraulic systems. Testing activities on wheel loaders have demonstrated a 20% of energy saving combining recoverable energy and reduction of compensation losses.

What are the advantages of the system?

  • Flow Sharing repartition
  • Energy recovery line
  • Compensation of the unbalanced loads (drift protection)

THANKS TO WALVOIL'S HITCH CONTROL SYSTEM GREATER EFFICIENCY AND COMFORT IN AGRICULTURE

Walvoil automated electro-hydraulic Hitch Control system allows the control of the implements towed or pushed by the tractor, replacing manual adjustment with efficient and precise management. All adjustments, which compensate for unexpected changes in ground conditions, are performed by the operator directly in the cabin. This working mode offers an automated and optimized control of performances and guarantees a higher level of operator safety.Walvoil Hitch Control system counteracts oscillations of the attachment during the moving phase, reducing wear and making transport more comfortable for the driver. The system therefore allows control solutions that contribute to make the machines more competitive by improving operator safety, comfort and productivity.

Walvoil offers 3 Hitch Control system levels to meet the different customer needs:

  • Base Solution
It includes only DPK120 sectional valve with integrated Hitch Control.
  • Intermediate Solution
Closed loop complete system including, in addition to DPK120 valve, the CED1200S or CED400W ECUs fitted with PHC Studio Suite.
  • Advanced Solution
It is the most complete proposal including the same products as the Intermediate Solution, with customizable display, angle and draft sensors.
